We Have an Exciting Year Planned-Join Us

Our Leadership team is busy preparing for the 2014-2015 year.  Budget has been approved.  Committees have been formed.  And we are having our first event on October 21st, The Gift that Keeps on Giving, a fundraiser for the Mary Walker house which benefits female veterans.

The PA State Theme for BPW is “Women would walk a mile for a C.A.M.E.L.” (Cure for Cancer, An end to Domestic Violence, More Support for women veterans, Equality for all Women, Legislation to empower women) – which part of the C.A.M.E.L. do you actively support and why?  Write to us and give your thoughts.

October is also Domestic Violence Month.  Every 12 seconds a woman is battered.  What does that mean?  Domestic abuse, or “battering”, is a pattern of abuse by one partner against the other, for the purpose of maintaining power and control. Domestic abuse often includes (but NOT ALWAYS) physical abuse. Forms of domestic abuse can include:

physical abuse
sexual abuse
verbal abuse
threats and intimidation
isolation or restriction from friends, family and other support systems
destruction of property
financial exploitation
jealousy and possessiveness
stalking or monitoring of behavior

Get involved.  Support a local organization in your area and help us to rid women of this senseless act.
